The Straight Story
(17/06/2000) |
In
a news clipping that ran in the UK's The Saturday
Times" on 17/06/2000, it was reported that David Lynch's recent
film The Straight Story has created a new sports craze in
America. The film, which chronicles Oscar-nominated Richard Farnsworth
as an octogenarian crossing the country on a lawnmower to meet his
dying brother, has inspired the new sport of mower racing. As the
United States Lawn Mower Racing Association enthusiastically comments:
"the mow the merrier". |

Sheryl Lee PETA Poster
Limited
Edition |
Ever wonder what Sheryl Lee gets
up to these days in terms of Twin Peaks? Well, defying
her adamant tendency of refusing to use her character, Laura Palmer's,
name, she has liasoned with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment
of Animals) and created ad poster of herself lying dead on a morgue
table. This is so far the only reference to Twin Peaks
she has made since the film, Fire Walk With Me, commenting:
"I've previously turned down a million offers to bring back Laura
- for commercials and video."
The photograph was taken by Robert Sebree. If
you are interested in purchasing a copy of the 36" x 24" poster,
send postpaid $8, calling PETA at (757) 622-7382, ext. 418 (U.S.
number). |

CULT TV Twin Peaks
Limited Edition |
May 1998 - Anyone
living in the United Kingdom, and interested in resources on Twin
Peaks, should head to the nearest newstand to purchase a copy
of the April 27th released edition of the magazine CULT TV [Season
2 - Episode 5 May 1998], which features an extensive and detailed
map of the town of Twin Peaks, which I will also feature in the
'Places in Twin Peaks' page
of this site as soon as I can find an appropriate scanner, for
those who don't live in the United Kingdom; however, if you think
you really have to get hold of the magazine, e-mail me below and
I'll see if I can send a copy to you. There is also a rather amusing
A-Z detailed reference to particular people and names in the series;
considering the shortage of Twin Peaks focus in mainstream
media the past few years, this is a surefire collectors item,
and only £2.95!...Better hurry, the magazine's title speaks for
itself, and copies are limited!
